How to correctly distinguish tungsten steel and white steel
Category:
【概要描述】
一、 Composition and characteristics of tungsten steel and white steel
1. Tungsten steel
Tungsten steel, also known as hard alloy, is a high-strength alloy material made by mixing tungsten, cobalt, carbon, and other metal elements. Tungsten steel has extremely high hardness, can withstand high temperatures, wear resistance, and also has good corrosion resistance. The processing of tungsten steel is difficult, but once successfully processed, it can be used to manufacture high-speed drills, cutting tools, molds, etc.
2. White steel
The main components of white steel are carbon and chromium, and the chromium content is relatively high, usually above 12%. White steel has a high hardness and excellent grinding performance, mainly used in the manufacturing of saw blades, screwdriver heads, nuts, and bearings.
二、 The difference between tungsten steel and white steel
Although tungsten steel and white steel are both metal materials, there are some differences in their composition, characteristics, and application fields.
1. Differences in ingredients
The main components of tungsten steel are tungsten, cobalt, carbon, nickel, etc., while the main components of white steel are carbon and chromium, with chromium content usually exceeding 12%. Therefore, the different components of the two determine their performance and application fields.
2. Characteristics and Differences
Tungsten steel has excellent hardness, toughness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, but its processing difficulty and cost are relatively high. White steel is relatively easy to machine and has good grinding performance, but its hardness and corrosion resistance are not as good as tungsten steel.
3. Differences in application fields
Due to the different compositions and characteristics of the two materials, their applications in industrial manufacturing also have their own strengths. Tungsten steel is mainly used for manufacturing high-speed drills, cutting tools, molds, etc., while white steel is used for manufacturing saw blades, screwdriver heads, nuts, bearings, etc.
三、 How to correctly distinguish tungsten steel and white steel
1. Observe the appearance
The appearance of tungsten steel is mostly gray white, sometimes appearing dark gray and black, usually with a metallic luster. The color of white steel is usually white or dark gray, and it also has a luster.
2. Testing hardness
The hardness of tungsten steel is usually between 60-70HRC, while the hardness of white steel is between 45-55HRC. Therefore, by using a hardness tester to test the hardness of the material, it is possible to quickly determine whether it is tungsten steel or white steel.
3. Check for magnetism
Tungsten steel is generally non magnetic, while white steel is magnetic. Therefore, a magnetic detector can be used to distinguish between these two materials.
